Second grade took learning beyond the classroom walls last week with a field trip to Crystal Bridges Museum of American Art! Our students explored incredible works of art, asked thoughtful questions, and made connections between what they see and what they’ve been learning at school. From paintings to sculptures, every gallery sparked curiosity, creativity, and great conversations. Experiences like this help bring learning to life and inspire our young artists and thinkers in the best way. We are so proud of how respectful, engaged, and excited our 2nd graders were throughout the visit! A big thank you to our teachers, chaperones, and Crystal Bridges for a memorable day of discovery! #SpringdaleFamily

Yesterday, our artists traded pencils for pastry inspiration! 🧁🎨 Students practiced their drawing skills by sketching cupcakes and the desserts of their choice. From classic cupcakes to beautifully detailed macarons (so impressive!), creativity was on full display. We love seeing imagination, focus, and artistic talent come together in such a sweet way! #SpringdaleFamily

Does height change how gravity works? Students in Mrs. Vang's class set out to find the answer! They built a ramp and tested how far marbles traveled when released from different heights. Then they ran the experiment again on carpet to see what would change. By comparing the two surfaces, students discovered how friction affects distance and had great conversations about how gravity and surface type work together. Hands-on learning, real curiosity, and science in action! #SpringdaleFamily

Yesterday, our Pack 2.0 Fitness Club had an exciting visit from our community partners at First Tee! Students worked on building positive self-image, teamwork, and character skills through fun, engaging activities. Over the next few weeks, they’ll continue developing important life lessons while also learning the fundamentals of golf. We love seeing our students grow in confidence, character, and new skills, on and off the course! #SpringdaleFamily

Our school counselors are the calm in the chaos, the listening ears, the problem solvers, the encouragers, and the champions for every single student who walks through our doors. Whether it’s helping a child work through a tough day, guiding students to make positive choices, or supporting families behind the scenes, they do it all with patience, care, and heart. We are so grateful for the way they pour into our students and staff each and every day. Thank you for being a safe place, a steady voice, and an incredible part of our school family. Please help us celebrate Maddison Holmes, Veronica "Nikki" Santillo, & Allíe Moist during School Counselor Week! 🐺💙

This week we are celebrating Ms. Meris, our amazing PE Instructional Assistant! Ms. Meris truly LOVE LOVE LOVEs these kids, and it shows every single day. 😄 She makes PE a fun, high-energy time by joking with students, keeping things lighthearted, and making sure everyone is having a good time. ⚽🎉 Ms. Meris has a huge heart for students and spends her extra time supporting our SEC Special Education classroom, often choosing to help out even when she doesn’t have to. 💛 She also goes above and beyond to capture special moments around campus, taking tons of pictures that make our yearbook extra special. 📸✨ And let’s not forget — every Christmas she proudly suits up as an inflatable Santa, bringing laughs and joy to our students! 🎅😂The students absolutely adore her, and the teachers in SEC truly appreciate all that she does.

Our fourth graders put their thinking caps (and snow boots!) on as they tested the snow shovel contraptions they designed and built for this month’s STEAM challenge. Using the engineering and problem-solving skills they’ve been learning all month, students planned, created, tested, and improved their designs, just like real engineers! The excitement was high as they discovered what worked, what didn’t, and how teamwork and creativity make all the difference. We love seeing our students apply classroom learning to hands-on, real-world challenges! Way to go, fourth grade! Your innovation skills are really "shoveling" us how it’s done! #SpringdaleFamily

This week we’re celebrating Mrs. Montgomery, our incredible Special Education classroom teacher in SEC! She is always so helpful to anyone who needs her and brings a positive, caring spirit to everything she does. 💛 Mrs. Montgomery has one of the most important and rewarding roles in our school, and she does it with patience, dedication, and heart. She is always there for her students — meeting their needs, advocating for them, and making sure they feel supported and valued every single day. We are so grateful for her compassion, positivity, and unwavering commitment to her students and our Westwood family. ✨👏

Brrr… it’s cold outside! But snowy days are the perfect opportunity to turn winter weather into hands-on STEM fun. If you’re feeling brave enough to venture out, even for just one activity, check out the chart below for ideas on how to explore science, engineering, and math using snow. From experimenting and building to observing and creating, there’s so much learning packed into a little winter wonder! If you try an activity, don’t forget to snap a picture and share it with us in the comments. We’d love to see your chilly (but creative!) fun!

Story time has been a hit in our kindergarten classes! Nurse Cara has been visiting to read Sick Simon, a silly but important story about germs and healthy habits. Simon never washes his hands or covers his coughs. With a spray bottle in hand, Nurse Cara showed just how easily germs can spread! The kids are absolutely LOVING the interactive fun while learning how to stay healthy. Learning + laughter = the best kind of story time! #SpringdaleFamily
