Our wonderful 3rd grade teacher, Ms. Thao, is the Superstar of the Week! She is dedicated to her students and always goes above and beyond—even putting in extra hours outside of school to make sure her class has the very best. 📚✨ She’s goal-driven, highly organized, and an incredible collaborator with her colleagues. We are so grateful for the heart and commitment she brings to our school every day! 💛👏

D is for Dog… but not for Hazel!
Our kinders had the best time learning the letter D with a little help from our favorite furry friend.

One of our students’ favorite PE lessons? Bike riding!
The smiles say it all as they build balance, confidence, and a love for moving. What a wheely fun way to learn and play!
Big shoutout to Mrs. Meris Gunderson for always capturing these learning moments so we can share them with our school family!

Each morning, our EAST students stop by guest teacher classrooms to remind everyone of the 3 things we do when we have a guest teacher:
1️⃣ Show respect
2️⃣ Show responsibility
3️⃣ Show kindness
These small reminders go a long way in making our guests feel welcome and appreciated at Westwood! 💙

Before the parade and all the HOCO celebrations kicked off yesterday, HBHS students brightened our morning by greeting our wolves at the door! What an awesome way to share their light and spread school spirit. 🐺💙

During WIN time, Mrs. Vang’s class dove into history in a creative way! Students designed a timeline and then asked thoughtful questions based on what they discovered. It was awesome to see their curiosity grow as they connected events and shared ideas with one another.

Today’s PD wasn’t just about learning, it was about doing!
Teachers jumped into a STEAM challenge that had them practicing the same skills we want students to build every day: communication, collaboration, and teamwork. From brainstorming ideas to problem-solving together, they showed just how powerful it is when creativity meets teamwork.

Good evening- the district has a Community Engagement Council , and each school is invited to have at least one parent representative. If you are interested, please email Mrs. Crumby at kcrumby@sdale.org. The meetings are held via zoom from 5:30-6:30, and the tentative dates are on Monday evenings- October 6, December 1, February 2, and April 6. This is an opportunity to get involved at the district level. Thanks!

This week we're shining the spotlight on Mrs. Caballero, one of our amazing 5th grade teachers! She's been doing an incredible job in the classroom and has a gift for making math fun and engaging for her students. Thank you, Mrs. Caballero, for inspiring a love of learning ever day! 💛📚✏️

Nothing like a scroll through some fun snapshots to wrap up the week! From our Safety Patrol practicing teamwork, to students earning Howling with Pride recognitions, to friends in PE cheering each other on. Also, the Alpha Team made their debut delivering snack packs and kindergarteners nailed their hallway routines. What a great week! It was full of teamwork, celebrations, and smiles all the way through! #Springdalefamily
