Our 2nd grade adventure at Apple Seeds was too good for just one post! Our Wolves continued exploring, learning, and making connections through STEM while enjoying a day outside the classroom with one of our wonderful community partners. 🍓 It was a BERRY sweet Friday at Westwood! 🍓 Our staff got a little extra sweetness today with delicious strawberry treats! Because the people who pour so much into our Wolves deserve to be treated, too. A big thank you to our amazing office team, Ms. Griselda Aleman, Mrs. Olga Acosta and Nurse Cara Edwards, for putting together this berry special treat and making Friday a little sweeter for everyone! #SpringdaleFamily

In art class, Ms. Mitchell’s class had a woolly wonderful time learning all about alpacas and llamas! Students then added these adorable animals to their line-design backgrounds, creating colorful, creative masterpieces full of personality. We loved watching each student’s unique artwork come to life! #Springdalefamily

Yesterday was a great day for Hazel because she got to spend some time with her Wolves! Whether she was stopping by for a visit, soaking up some extra love, or simply hanging out with some of her favorite students, Hazel was right where she loves to be. These pictures say it all. Hazel loves her Wolves, and they sure do love her right back! Days are always a little sweeter when Hazel is around! #SpringdaleFamily

Our Kindergarten and 1st grade Wolves will be completing their beginning-of-the-year (BOY) screeners. These screeners help us learn more about where students are starting the year and how we can best support their learning and growth. Please check out the graphic below for important dates, times, and information.

Last Friday, we celebrated the Alpha Team’s hard work with a well-earned donut breakfast and their new Alpha shirts! Later that day, they put their leadership skills into action by helping our kindergarten students learn how to sit, listen, and participate during their first awards assembly. We’re so proud of this team and the wonderful example they set for our younger Wolves! #SpringdaleFamily

Our first PACK Parade Assembly was a great way to end the week on Friday! We love coming together as a Wolf Pack to celebrate students and recognize all the great things happening around Westwood. Our Safety Team presented Safety Awards, and our Specials teachers recognized students for their hard work and accomplishments. We also celebrated the classes keeping Westwood looking its best with awards for the cleanest classroom and restrooms, along with the grade level that did an amazing job keeping the PACK Promise during lunch and leaving the cafeteria clean! Please congratulate Ms. Mitchell's class for winning the cleanest classroom award! YAY!!! There was so much to celebrate at our first PACK Parade, and we’re proud of our Wolves for showing what it means to be part of the Pack! #SpringdaleFamily

Hazel is back on the job! This time, she’s helping our Wolves practice what a great line looks like. Straight line, safe feet, ready to go. Hazel has it down! She loves spending time in the building with her Wolves, and we think they’re pretty happy to have her around, too! #SpringdaleFamily

Sometimes the best inspiration is right outside the window! With construction happening just outside Westwood, one of our Wolves took a little time to sketch what he saw in action. We love seeing students turn everyday moments into opportunities to observe, create, and wonder! #SpringdaleFamily

Ms. Gaucin’s students did an amazing job on their first art project! Inspired by the cover of a book they read in class, students brought their own creativity to life through art. What a wonderful way to connect reading and imagination! #SpringdaleFamilies

Our social worker, Mrs. Lilly Martens, showed our Pre-K friends some butterfly chrysalises, and they were fascinated! They took turns looking through their “binoculars” to get a closer look at the tiny chrysalises. 🔍🦋

We can’t wait to watch the butterflies emerge and, just like our little Wolves, spread their wings and fly! 💙🐺🦋

Hey Westwood families- our district has a Community Engagement Council (CEC) to help connect families with our district administration, and each school can have two parent/family representatives. The meetings are held via Zoom from 5:30-6:30, and the tentative dates are: Monday, September 28, 2026 , Monday, November 30, 2026, Monday, February 1, 2027, and Monday, April 5, 2027. A huge THANK YOU to our amazing families for helping us win the Free & Reduced Meal Application competition! Because of your support, our teachers & staff earned a pizza party!!! A special shoutout to Mr. Donnell for providing the delicious pizzas and to Mrs. Santillo and Mrs. Martens for working so hard during our Greet ’n Meet event to help families complete their applications. We appreciate you! The pizza was a BIG hit…so big that Mr. Ranger had a pretty tough decision to make: pizza or carrots for lunch... Thank you, Wolf Pack, for always showing up and supporting Westwood!
