To the Springdale Community,
Student and staff health and safety is the number one concern of Springdale Public Schools. Arkansas Governor Asa Hutchinson and Secretary of Education Johnny Key recommend school districts in counties without a presumptive case remain open in order to not disrupt community life, especially meal services for children and health services for all. The CDC guidance on COVID-19 is that short to medium duration school closings are not recommended. The major request is for good judgment be in place for hygiene for all students and staff along with social distancing. Springdale Public Schools will remain open.

We had a great 4th grade IB night! Our families watched our students debate issues relating to our world. Great job!
We were so blessed to have Walmart associates come read to our kids last week! They also brought water and fruit.

We are so proud of Mrs. Richards and Mrs. Thomas- they are now National Board Certified Teachers! This is a rigorous process and takes a lot of time and commitment. Way to go, Wolves!

Don’t forget- tomorrow is the Westwood Decades Dance! Students are welcome to wear clothes from any decade to school and/or the dance. The dance is 5:30-7:00 and it’s only $1 a person for entry. See you soon!
The Rotary Club came and gave out books to every single 3rd grader. We appreciate it so much!
Helen Tyson Middle School is having a very informative event tomorrow night about dealing with social media, technology, etc. They wanted to invite our parents since we are a feeder school. This will be a great night!
Our staff is amazing! They stayed until 6:30 Monday evening learning more about how kids learn to read. Friday after school, Ms. Tyree had a spa party for the student who won that experience at the action at Night of the Arts (plus a few more friends). So thankful for our school family.
Parents- we have a Booster Club meeting tomorrow at 11:00. We would love to have more parents come and hep us plan for Westwood. We will be talking about equipment we can add to the music program and other plans. See you soon!
We love books at Westwood Elementary! Our awesome 2nd grade team presented a Reader’s Theatre to their students yesterday, and our 4th graders are loving book clubs!
